Regentrude is a character from German folklore. She is often depicted as a wicked and vengeful queen. In the story, Regentrude is a beautiful but malicious queen who has the ability to control the weather. She uses her powers to bring storms, floods, and destruction to the land.
Regentrude's name is derived from the German word "Regen," meaning rain. It reflects her association with rain and water-related phenomena. She is portrayed as a formidable and dangerous figure who delights in causing chaos and misery.
In some versions of the tale, Regentrude is eventually defeated by a brave and clever hero who outwits her and puts an end to her reign of terror. This story serves as a cautionary tale about the destructive power of nature and the importance of courage and resourcefulness in overcoming adversity.

Courage, determination, and self-confidence were also demonstrated by the 25 musicians and artists between the ages of 13 and 25 who took on the task of creating the Regentrude as a multimedia project. For nearly a year, these young people from the western Ruhr area practiced, rehearsed, planned, and illustrated to bring this project to life.
A professional CD production followed, as well as several exhilarating performances, including at the Duisburg Platzhirsch Festival. Conductor Ulrike Pfeiffer-Stachelhaus drives her young ensemble to a virtuosic masterpiece, while the Chinese artist Luan Xiaochen paints live in a virtuoso mixed technique, and actress Angela adds wit to the text.
