Since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, Luan Xiaochen has shifted their focus towards examining the role of mobility and time in shaping individuals and history. The term "moving images" encompasses various aspects, including the production method of early 20th-century panoramic photography through mobile shooting and stitching, the observation process of panoramas and handscroll paintings, as well as Luan's own movement from the creative process to external history and the migration of images over time. The blueprint for the images in the painting is derived from panoramic photography of the coastline of Qingdao during the construction by the German Empire in 1902 (references obtained from the German Federal Archives).
